How we price projects, and why we publish it
Studio notes
By Ali
For our first five years we priced every project from scratch, by feel. Some made money; some quietly did not. Clients never knew what to expect, and neither did we.
Fixed fees, written scope
Today every project has a fixed fee tied to a written scope: what we make, how many rounds of feedback, and what is not included. If the scope changes, we write down the change and its cost before doing the work.
Every project starts with a written scope.Publishing our starting prices
Our Process & pricing page lists what our packages start at. It filters out projects that would never fit, and it makes the first call easier for everyone: we talk about the work, not about whether a number is shocking.
Licences for photography
Photography is priced in two parts: the time to make the pictures and the licence to use them. A small brand using images on its own website pays less than a national campaign, and both know exactly what they have bought.
We wrote up the whole system, with worksheets, in our pricing guide in the shop.
